~Trisagion Prayers~

O heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who art in all places and fillest all things; Treasury of good things and Giver of life: Come, and dwell in us, and cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O gracious Lord.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal: have mercy on us. (thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

All-holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our iniquities. Holy God, visit and heal our infirmities for thy Name’s sake.

Lord, have mercy. (thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

~O Come, Let Us Worship~

O come, let us worship God our King!

O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, our King and our God!

O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and our God!

~Psalms~

Psalm 83 (Monday/Thursday)
How amiable are Thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself where she may lay her young; even Thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house; they will be ever praising Thee. Blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee, in whose heart are Thy ways, who passing through the Valley of Baca makes it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. They go from strength to strength; every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob. Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of Thine anointed. For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in Thee!

Psalm 84 (Tuesday/Friday)
LORD, Thou hast been favorable unto Thy land; Thou hast released the captives of Jacob. Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of Thy people; Thou hast covered all their sin. Thou hast taken away all Thy wrath; Thou hast turned Thyself from the fierceness of Thine anger. Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause Thine anger toward us to cease. Wilt Thou be angry with us for ever? Wilt Thou draw out Thine anger to all generations? Wilt Thou not revive us again, that Thy people may rejoice in Thee? Show us Thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us Thy salvation.

I will hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak peace unto His people and to His saints; but let them not turn again to folly. Surely His salvation is nigh them that fear Him, that glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good, and our land shall yield her increase. Righteousness shall go before Him, and shall set us in the way of His steps.

Psalm 85 (Wednesday/Saturday)
Bow down Thine ear, O LORD; hear me, for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul, for I am holy; O Thou my God, save Thy servant that trusteth in Thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord, for I cry unto Thee daily. Make the soul of Thy servant rejoice, for unto Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For Thou, Lord, art good and ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon Thee. Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon Thee, for Thou wilt answer me.

Among the gods there is none like unto Thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto Thy works. All nations whom Thou hast made shall come and worship before Thee, O Lord, and shall glorify Thy name. For Thou art great and doest wondrous things: Thou alone art God. Teach me Thy way, O LORD; I will walk in Thy truth; unite my heart to fear Thy name. I will praise Thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Thy name for evermore. For great is Thy mercy toward me, and Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell. O God, the proud have risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul, and have not set Thee before them. But Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. O turn unto me and have mercy upon me; give Thy strength unto Thy servant, and save the son of Thine handmaid. Show me a token for good, that they that hate me may see it and be ashamed, because Thou, LORD, hast helped me and comforted me.

~Alleluia~

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Glory to Thee, O Lord!

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Glory to Thee, O Lord!

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Glory to Thee, O Lord, our God and our hope, glory be to Thee!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

~Troparion of the Day~

Here the troparion of the day is sung. See http://bookofprayer.wordpress.com/2007/07/13/daily-troparia/

In addition, the troparia for the saints commemorated on this day may be sung here.

~Theotokion and Psalm Verse of the Hour~

Now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Theotokion: O Lord, who for our sake wast born of a Virgin, and suffered crucifixion, O Good One, and destroyed death by death, and as God revealed the Resurrection; Do not despise those whom Thou hast created with Thine own hand; show forth Thy love for mankind, O Merciful One; accept the intercessions of Thy mother, the Theotokos, for us, and save Thy despairing people.

Psalm Verse: Do not forsake us utterly, for Thy Name’s sake, and do not destroy Thy covenant; and do not take Thy mercies from us, for the sake of Abraham whom Thou lovedst, and for the sake of Isaac, Thy servant, and of Israel, Thy holy one.

~First Prayer of the Hour~

Order my steps in Thy Word, and so shall no wickedness have dominion over me. Deliver me from the wrongful dealings of men, and so shall I keep Thy commandments. Show the light of Thy countenance upon Thy servant, and teach me Thy commandment. Let my mouth be filled with Thy praise, O Lord, that I may sing of Thy glory and honour all day long.

~Kontakion of the Day~

Here the kontakion of the day (and any kontakia for the commemorated saints) is sung, except during Great Lent, when the kontakion specific to that season is sung.

~The Second Prayer of the Hour~

O Christ our God, who at all times and in every hour, in heaven and on earth, art worshipped and glorified; who art long-suffering, merciful and compassionate; who lovest the just and showest mercy upon the sinner; who callest all to salvation through the promise of blessings to come; O Lord, in this hour receive our supplications, and direct our lives according to thy commandments. Sanctify our souls, hallow our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our minds; deliver us from all tribulation, evil and distress. Encompass us with thy holy Angels, that guided and guarded by them, we may attain to the unity of the faith and to the knowledge of thine unapproachable glory, for thou art blessed unto ages of ages. Amen.

The Prayer of St. Ephrem the Syrian is here added during Great Lent & Holy Week with prostrations; otherwise, proceed to the Conclusion.

O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, despondency, lust for power and idle talk.

But grant unto me, Thy servant, a spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love.

Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see mine own faults and not to judge my brothers and sisters. For blessed art Thou unto ages of ages. Amen.

~Conclusion~

Lord, have mercy. (thrice)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

More honorable than the Cherubim, and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim, who without defilement gavest birth to God the Word: true Theotokos, we magnify thee.

Concluding Prayer of the Hour
O Master, Lord Jesus Christ our God, Who hast patiently endured our sins, and Who hast led us even to the present hour in which, as Thou didst hang upon the life-giving tree Thou madest a way into Paradise for the repentant thief, and by death destroyed death: cleanse us sinners and Thine unworthy servants; for we have sinned and have dealt iniquitously, and we are not worthy to lift our eyes to the heights of heaven, for we have abandoned the part of Thy righteousness, and have walked after the desires of our own hearts. But we implore Thy boundless goodness: spare us, O Lord, according to the multitude of Thy mercies, and save us, for Thy holy Name’s sake; for our days have passed away in vanity. Pull us away from the hand of the adversary, and forgive our sins and deaden in us fleshy imagination; that putting off the old man, we may be clothed with the new man, and may live unto Thee, our Master and Benefactor; and that following Thy commandments, we may attain to eternal rest, where is the dwelling-place of all those who rejoice. For Thou art, in truth, the true joy and exultation of those who love Thee, O Christ our God, and unto Thee we ascribe glory, together with the eternal Father, and Thine all-holy, good, and life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. (thrice)

Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us, and save us. Amen.
