~Trisagion Prayers~

O heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who art in all places and fillest all things; Treasury of good things and Giver of life: Come, and dwell in us, and cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O gracious Lord.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal: have mercy on us. (thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

All-holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our iniquities. Holy God, visit and heal our infirmities for thy Name’s sake.

Lord, have mercy. (thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

~O Come, Let Us Worship~

O come, let us worship God our King!

O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, our King and our God!

O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and our God!

~Psalms~

Psalm 53 (Monday/Thursday)
Save me, O God, by Thy name, and judge me by Thy strength. Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul; they have not set God before them.

Behold, God is mine helper; the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. He shall reward evil unto mine enemies; cut them off in Thy truth. I will freely sacrifice unto Thee; I will praise Thy name, O LORD, for it is good. For He hath delivered me out of all trouble, and mine eye hath seen my desire upon mine enemies.

Psalm 54 (Tuesday/Friday)
Give ear to my prayer, O God, and hide not Thyself from my supplication. Attend unto me and hear me; I mourn in my complaint and moan, because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. My heart is sorely pained within me, and the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. And I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away and be at rest. Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness; I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.”

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues, for I have seen violence and strife in the city. Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof; mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. Wickedness is in the midst thereof; deceit and guile depart not from her streets. For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it. Neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him. But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. Let death seize upon them, and let them go down alive into hell; for wickedness is in their dwellings and among them.

As for me, I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon will I pray and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for there were many with me. God shall hear and afflict them, even He that abideth of old. Because they have not changed, therefore they fear not God. He hath put forth his hands against those that are at peace with him; he hath broken his covenant. The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. But Thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction; bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in Thee.

Psalm 90 (Wednesday/Saturday)
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him will I trust.” Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust; His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flieth by day, nor of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor of the destruction that layeth waste at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Because thou hast made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample underfoot. “Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”

~Alleluia~

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Glory to Thee, O Lord!

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Glory to Thee, O Lord!

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Glory to Thee, O Lord, our God and our hope, glory be to Thee!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

~Troparion of the Day~

Here the troparion of the day is sung. See http://bookofprayer.wordpress.com/2007/07/13/daily-troparia/

In addition, the troparia for the saints commemorated on this day may be sung here.

~Theotokion and Psalm Verse of the Hour~

Now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Theotokion: Seeing that we have no boldness, because of the multitude of our sins, do thou, O Virgin Theotokos, fervently entreat him who was born of thee; for the prayer of a mother avails much to the good will of the Master. Despise not the supplications of sinners, O all-revered one; for merciful and mighty to save is He who graciously willed to suffer for us.

Psalm Verse: Let Thy tender mercies quickly go before us, O Lord, for we have become very poor. Help us, O God our Savior, for the sake of the glory of Thy name; O Lord, deliver us, and cleanse our sins, for Thy name’s sake.

~First Prayer of the Hour~

Let Thy tender mercies speedily go before us, O Lord, for we have become very poor. Help us, O God our Savior, for the glory of Thy Name: O Lord, deliver us and cleanse our sins for Thy Name’s sake.

~Kontakion of the Day~

Here the kontakion of the day (and any kontakia for the commemorated saints) is sung, except during Great Lent, when the kontakion specific to that season is sung.

~The Second Prayer of the Hour~
O Christ our God, who at all times and in every hour, in heaven and on earth, art worshipped and glorified; who art long-suffering, merciful and compassionate; who lovest the just and showest mercy upon the sinner; who callest all to salvation through the promise of blessings to come; O Lord, in this hour receive our supplications, and direct our lives according to thy commandments. Sanctify our souls, hallow our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our minds; deliver us from all tribulation, evil and distress. Encompass us with thy holy Angels, that guided and guarded by them, we may attain to the unity of the faith and to the knowledge of thine unapproachable glory, for thou art blessed unto ages of ages. Amen.

The Prayer of St. Ephrem the Syrian is here added during Great Lent & Holy Week with prostrations; otherwise, proceed to the Conclusion.

O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, despondency, lust for power and idle talk.

But grant unto me, Thy servant, a spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love.

Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see mine own faults and not to judge my brothers and sisters. For blessed art Thou unto ages of ages. Amen.

~Conclusion~

Lord, have mercy. (thrice)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

More honorable than the Cherubim, and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim, who without defilement gavest birth to God the Word: true Theotokos, we magnify thee.

Concluding Prayer of the Hour
O God and Lord of Hosts and Author of all creation, Who through the tenderhearted compassion of Thine incomparable mercy didst send down Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, for the redemption of our race, and by His precious Cross destroyed the handwriting of our sins, and thereby triumphed over the princes and powers of darkness; O Lord, Who lovest mankind, accept also these thanksgivings and prayers of us sinners and deliver us from every dark and deadly transgression, and from all enemies, both visible and invisible, who seek to do us harm. Nail our flesh with the fear of Thee, and incline not our hearts to evil words or thoughts, but wound our souls with Thy love, that ever looking to Thee, and guided by Thy light and beholding Thee, the unapproachable and everlasting light, we may ascribe to Thee unceasing praise and thanksgiving; to the Father Who has no beginning, together with Thine Only-begotten Son, and Thine all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. (thrice)

Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us, and save us. Amen.
